Me & Ollies was born out of the love and respect for baking great breads, and the desire to bring good honest food to the seacoast communities. Our roots literally begin in the fertile grounds of Northern Montana home of our organic wheat. Big Sandy, Montana is home to our farmer [affectionately known as Montana Bob] and to the farms where the world’s best hard red wheat is grown. This wheat is trucked to us across the country 45,000 pounds at a time to its destination: Me & Ollies Bakery in Portsmouth, NH. Here we mill the wheat berries into fresh flour resulting in the best tasting most nutritious bread available.

Of course it takes great people with a passion for baking and respect for old world techniques to bring our bread to life. Careful mixing and hand forming begin our bakers daily journey, and pulling warm, flavorful breads out of the oven their destination. We bake a full line of traditional American breads as well as an extensive variety of European artisan breads. Pure natural ingredients, hand cultured sour starters, long fermentation times, and lots of love define our commitment to authentic bread.

Our bakery which opened in June of 1998 has given rise to four cafes. There are two in Portsmouth, one in Exeter, and one in Hampton, NH. Our cafes feature our award winning baked goods, sandwiches made to order with our home made breads and spreads, and a full coffee bar, all in a laid back comfortable setting.

We involve as many local venders as possible, like old fashioned Squamscot Soda, White Heron Tea, a loose leaf tea merchant, and Hatchland Dairy for our milk and dairy products. We are fortunate to have so many devoted local businesses enhancing all of our lives and helping us bring to you the seacoast’s best. We hope you visit us soon.
